BENGAL GLOBAL SUMMIT 2016

Bengal Global Business Summit 2015 proved to be a milestone in terms of establishing Bengal as an ideal investment destination. Buoyed by the success of the first Summit, Bengal Global Business Summit 2016 was organised to showcase investment opportunities in the state and bring in new ideas and introduce new themes where Bengal could have a cutting edge. 

BGBS 2016 had plenary sessions addressed by political dignitaries from India and abroad and national and international speakers who shared their thoughts and experiences. There were thematic sessions on Startups, E-commerce, Design, Intelligent Cities, Industrial Infrastructure available in the state, Skills and Services and Sector Leadership. The Summit also focused on B2B and G2B interactions. 

BGBS 2016 had the valued presence of various dignitaries like industry leaders, senior ministers from India and abroad, heads of business and government leaders from 26 countries including USA, UK, Italy, Spain, Germany, Japan, China, Korea, Bhutan, Bangladesh, etc. participated in the Summit.

Hon'ble Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the Summit and presided over the plenary sessions. Hon’ble Ministers from abroad, HE Mr Tshering Tobgay, Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bhutan, Mr. Tofail Ahmed, Minister of Commerce, Bangladesh and Rt Hon Ms Priti Patel, Minister of State for Employment, United Kingdom and Hon’ble Ministers from India, Shri Arun Jaitley, Hon’ble Union Minister of Finance, Corporate Affairs, Information & Broadcasting, Shri Nitin Jairam Gadkari, Hon’ble Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways & Shipping, Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Hon’ble Union Minister of Railways, Shri Arvind Kejriwal, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi and Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister of State with Independent Charge for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy addressed the Summit.

Living up to the tagline of Bengal surging ahead, BGBS 2016 concluded on a very high and optimistic note.

Rs. 2,50,253.74 crores of business announcements, business document exchanges, expressions of interest and investment proposals were received at the Bengal Global Business Summit 2016.

Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) was the Summit Partner of Bengal Global Summit 2016 and Japan was the Partner Country.
