Bengal in Thailand

A high powered official and business delegation from West Bengal, India led by Mr. S Kishore, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Industries, Commerce & Enterprises, Govt. of West Bengal and Ms. Vandana Yadav, MD, WBIDC visited Thailand from 30 August - 1 September, 2017 to promote closer engagement and cooperation in various fields and explore trade and investment opportunities between Thailand and West Bengal.
A Seminar on “Business & Investment Opportunities in West Bengal” was organised by Embassy of India, Thailand in collaboration with the Thai Chamber of Commerce on the 31 August in Bangkok.
From Govt. of West Bengal, Mr S Kishore, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Industries, Commerce & Enterprises, Govt. of West Bengal delivered the keynote address. Ms. Vandana Yadav, IAS, MD, WBIDC made a presentation on ‘Opportunities on West Bengal’. From the Indian Embassy in Bangkok, the opening remarks were delivered by Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Commercial Representative, Embassy of India, Thailand. Mr. Abbagani Ramu, Charge D’Affairs, Embassy of India, Thailand delivered the welcome address. Mr. Sanan Angubolkul, Vice Chairman of Thai Chamber of Commerce & Board of Trade of Thailand, Chairman, Thailand-India Business Council and Chairman, Srithai Superware Public Co. Ltd. addressed the session. Mr. Rudra Chatterjee, Senior Vice President, Indian Chamber of Commerce & Executive Director, Luxmi Tea Company Ltd., Mr. Shiv Siddhant Kaul, Co-Chairman, Science & Technology and Innovation Committee & Member, National Executive Committee, FICCI& MD, Nicco Engineering Services Ltd and business delegates spoke on their experiences of doing business in West Bengal. Thai Business Heads were also called to highlight business opportunities between Thailand and West Bengal.
The seminar was followed by G2B meetings between Senior Government officials of West Bengal and major Thai companies and associations.
